Pekanbaru, April 8, 2026 — Efforts to strengthen transparent, inclusive, and accountable governance in the implementation of the GREEN for Riau initiative continue. One such effort is an internal review of the draft Feedback and Grievance Redress Mechanism (FGRM) module.
This activity involved the GREEN for Riau secretariat team, technical partners UNEP, FAO, and experts to review and refine the basic guidelines for the FGRM so that it can be effectively implemented in Riau Province.
The FGRM is a system designed to collect, manage, and follow up on input and complaints from stakeholders, particularly communities at the grassroots level. Through this mechanism, it is hoped that every voice can be heard and every issue can be addressed transparently and fairly.
The review and discussion process was conducted in a participatory manner, focusing on improving the complaint flow, clarifying roles, and complying with safeguards principles. Various constructive input was provided, both regarding technical aspects and implementation in the field.
The FGRM module, currently under development, will continue to undergo refinement. Going forward, this document will require input from various parties to ensure it is truly relevant, contextual, applicable, and aligned with needs at the grassroots level before widespread implementation.
As part of strengthening program governance, the FGRM is expected to serve as a crucial foundation for building trust between stakeholders, while ensuring that each process is participatory, fair, and sustainable.
