Danang Kabul Sukresno, Provincial Coordinator
In the implementation of the GREEN for Riau Initiative, he plays a role in supporting coordination and strengthening multi-stakeholder governance during the implementation readiness phase, including the establishment of a coordination forum, program integration into regional planning documents, and the development of MRV, funding, and partnership strategies at the provincial level. Previously, he served as Head of the Forest Planning and Utilization Division of the Riau Provincial Forestry Service and was active on the Riau REDD+ Team and the development of the 2030 FOLU Net Sink document. He has extensive experience in forestry planning, forest area governance, and jurisdiction-based emission reduction.
Prof. Dr. Suwondo, Mitigation Action Plan (MAP) Expert
In the implementation of the GREEN for Riau Initiative, he played a role in developing scientifically based mitigation strategies, integrating GHG emissions inventory and reduction into regional planning documents, and strengthening the KLHS framework, RAD-GRK, and MRV system to support REDD+ implementation at the provincial level. With extensive experience as the Coordinator of the Center for Environmental Studies at the University of Riau and extensive involvement in the preparation of KLHS, GHG inventories, AMDAL, and sustainable development planning in Riau, he has a strong track record in peatland management, forest and land fire prevention, and the formulation of science-based climate change mitigation policies.
Rizky Rachmawati, Co-Coordinator of the GREEN for Riau Initiative Implementation Coordination Team
In the implementation of the GREEN for Riau Initiative, she serves as deputy coordinator of the initiative's implementation coordination team and supports the strengthening of regional planning and budgeting through the development of a budget tagging framework and the integration of REDD+ actions into regional planning documents (RPJMD/RKPD) and STRADA in Riau Province. She serves as a Senior Planner/Team Leader at the Riau Province Bappeda and a member of the Riau REDD+ Safeguard Team, with experience coordinating climate change mitigation and adaptation actions and integrating SEA into regional development planning documents.
Miranty Magetsari, Institutional Strengthening Expert
In the implementation of the GREEN for Riau Initiative, she plays a role in supporting institutional strengthening and coordination across REDD+ working groups in Riau Province, including through stakeholder mapping, facilitating focus group discussions (FGDs), and developing inclusive and integrated capacity building and governance strategies. Previously, she has experience as a Social HCV Assessor, an FPIC Verification Assessor, and a consultant for sustainability management systems development and organizational restructuring, with a focus on strengthening governance, management systems, and compliance with sustainability standards across various sectors.
Dr. Andreas A. Hutahaean, Policy and Legal Expert
In the implementation of the GREEN for Riau Initiative, he led the review and harmonization of the REDD+ legal framework, the development of regional regulatory instruments (Regional Regulations, Gubernatorial Regulations, and MoUs), and provided legal advice on carbon rights, benefit-sharing, safeguards compliance, and accelerated approval of the TREES Concept to align with national regulations and international standards such as ART-TREES and Article 6 of the Paris Agreement. With over 15 years of experience in climate governance, carbon pricing, FOLU, and international negotiations (UNFCCC, G20, ASEAN), as well as a track record in developing science-based carbon market policies and MRV frameworks, he has strong capacity to ensure legal certainty, mitigate regulatory risks, and strengthen investor confidence in REDD+ implementation.
Safeguards and Social
Irfan Kemal Putra, Safeguards Expert
In the implementation of the GREEN for Riau Initiative, he plays a role in supporting the development and operationalization of a social and environmental safeguards framework aligned with SIS-REDD+ and ART-TREES standards, including through gap analysis, development of safeguards documents, and facilitation of multi-stakeholder consultations. Previously, he served as a UNEP Provincial Safeguards Consultant in Riau and a Social Safeguards and Gender Mainstreaming Specialist for FOLU-NC1, focusing on strengthening safeguards architecture, developing procedures, and overseeing the implementation of environmental and social standards at the national and subnational levels.
Dzul Afifah Arifin, M.Sc., GEDSI Expert
In the implementation of the GREEN for Riau Initiative, she plays a role in supporting the implementation of gender analysis, the development of the Gender Action Plan and GEDSI strategy, and the integration of gender-disaggregated indicators into the MRV and safeguards systems (SIS-REDD+ and ART-TREES), including through multi-stakeholder consultations and institutional capacity building. With over 13 years of experience with UNDP, UN Women, UNODC, FAO, and the Indonesia Environmental Fund in gender mainstreaming, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of climate and forestry programs, she has a strong track record in ensuring compliance with national and international gender standards and promoting inclusive and equitable REDD+ governance.
Harry Oktavian, Stakeholder Engagement and Community Development Expert
In the implementation of the GREEN for Riau Initiative, he is responsible for mapping and developing stakeholder engagement strategies, facilitating multi-stakeholder dialogue, conducting participatory development planning, and implementing and documenting FPIC and social safeguards in accordance with SIS-REDD+ and CCB standards. With over two decades of experience in forest governance advocacy, natural resource conflict mediation, strengthening community institutions, and leading multi-stakeholder forums in Riau, he has a strong track record in building inclusive partnerships, strengthening community capacity, and ensuring the integration of community interests in forestry and climate policy.
Himyul Wahyudi, S.E., Expert for Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (IP/LC)
In the implementation of the GREEN for Riau Initiative, he plays a role in supporting the identification and mapping of indigenous territories, facilitating the FPIC process in accordance with SIS-REDD+ and ART-TREES standards, and strengthening indigenous community institutions and participation in REDD+ governance. With extensive experience at AMAN Kampar in advocating for indigenous peoples' recognition, accelerating customary forests, registering customary territories through BRWA, as well as participatory mapping and community capacity building, he has a strong track record in ensuring the protection of customary rights and the meaningful involvement of indigenous communities in forestry and climate policy.
Dr. Ir. Wiratno, M.Sc, Conflict Resolution Expert
In the implementation of the GREEN for Riau Initiative, he led conflict risk mapping, facilitated multi-stakeholder mediation, and strengthened capacity for tenurial dispute resolution and natural resource governance to align with SIS-REDD+, ART-TREES, FPIC, and national forestry regulations. With extensive experience as Director General of the Natural Resources Conservation Agency (KSDAE), Director of Social Forestry Development, and Expert Advisor to the Minister for Restoration and Conservation Partnerships, he has a strong track record in collaborative approaches, institutional transformation, and partnership-based conflict resolution in conservation area and social forestry management in Indonesia.
Anwar Rosyadi, Grievance Mechanism Expert
In the implementation of the GREEN for Riau Initiative, he was instrumental in designing and operationalizing the multi-level grievance mechanism (GRM), developing standard operating procedures (SOPs) and case handling tools, and facilitating the mediation of tenurial and natural resource conflicts to align with SIS-REDD+, ART-TREES, and national regulations. With a background in forestry from IPB and extensive experience as a Project Manager in carbon projects, forest inventories, land rehabilitation, and the development of whistleblowing and gender-responsive systems, he has a strong track record in conflict management, strengthening accountability, and improving safeguards compliance in climate-based and forestry programs.
Susanto Kurniawan, Social Forestry Policy and Partnership Expert
In the implementation of the GREEN for Riau Initiative, he plays a role in supporting the integration of Social Forestry policies into the JREDD+ strategy, including facilitating permits, strengthening village forest group institutions and HKm/HD/HA/HTR/Partnership schemes, as well as developing sustainable livelihood models aligned with the FOLU Net Sink 2030. With extensive experience in forest governance advocacy, community mentoring, multi-stakeholder coordination, and involvement in national and international forums related to climate change and landscape conservation in Riau, he has a strong track record in promoting the recognition of community management rights, strengthening community capacity, and landscape-based policy partnerships.
Rahmaidi Azani, Social Forestry Technical and Knowledge Expert
In the implementation of the GREEN for Riau Initiative, he plays a role in supporting the facilitation of Social Forestry permits, GIS- and drone-based participatory mapping, institutional strengthening of village forest management groups, and the integration of socio-spatial data into the planning, MRV, and JREDD+ safeguards systems. With extensive experience in forest governance monitoring, tenurial conflict resolution, Village Forest proposal development, and database development and spatial analysis across various priority landscapes in Riau, he has a strong track record in strengthening the technical aspects, field knowledge, and accountability of Social Forestry implementation within the REDD+ framework.
Dr. Rosmalinda, Human Rights Expert
In the implementation of the GREEN for Riau Initiative, she led due diligence and human rights risk analysis, the development of mitigation plans and non-militaristic protection protocols, and the integration of human rights indicators into the safeguards system, FPIC, and grievance mechanisms to ensure compliance with SIS-REDD+ and international standards. With a doctorate in international law and extensive research experience in children's rights, refugees, the protection of vulnerable groups, and legal and environmental governance, she has a strong track record in strengthening rights-based approaches, conflict resolution, and institutional accountability in the context of development and natural resource management.
MRV and BSP
Muis Fajar, Nesting Development & REDD+ Governance Expert
In the implementation of the GREEN for Riau Initiative, he plays a role in supporting the development of a nesting approach and strengthening REDD+ governance in Riau Province, including through facilitating multi-stakeholder dialogue, analyzing carbon project gaps, and developing a JREDD+ credit identification framework aligned with national systems (SRN, FREL/FRL) and carbon markets. Previously, he served as a Social and Environmental Safeguard Manager at Indonesia Infrastructure Finance and a Spatial and Safeguard Expert on various carbon projects and DRAM-SRN, with expertise in spatial analysis, safeguards system development, and compliance with international standards (IFC, ADB, World Bank).
Dr. Arief Darmawan, MRV Expert (FAO)
In the implementation of the GREEN for Riau Initiative, he played a role in supporting the development of the sub-national Forest Reference Emission Level (FREL) and the Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) system in Riau Province as part of the preparation for jurisdictional REDD+ implementation. He has extensive experience in forestry, land-use change, and climate change, particularly in tropical forest monitoring, forest carbon accounting, and GHG emission estimation in the forestry and land sectors. He was also involved in the development of Indonesia's Forest Reference Level (FRL) 2 and FREL 1, the development of MRV systems at the national and sub-national levels, and supporting Indonesia's climate change reporting within the UNFCCC framework. He is currently a lecturer in the Department of Forestry, University of Lampung.
Dr. Wahyu Catur Adinugroho, FAO
Wahyu Catur Adinugroho is a Principal Researcher at the Ecological Research Center, BRIN, with expertise in forest biometrics, carbon assessment, and GHG emission calculations in the FOLU sector. He has over 20 years of experience in developing MRV/REDD+, INCAS, and national FRELs, and is a member of the MRV Team and the GHG Emissions Calculation Methodology Panel of the Indonesian Ministry of Environment. Within the GREEN for Riau Initiative, he supports the development of subnational FRELs in peat ecosystems as part of the preparation for jurisdictional REDD+ implementation.
Eny Wahyu Lestari, FAO Green for Riau Project Assistance
In the implementation of the GREEN for Riau Initiative, she played a role in supporting the development of the sub-national Forest Reference Emission Level (FREL) and the Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) system in Riau Province as part of the preparation for jurisdictional REDD+ implementation. Previously, she has experience in forest and agroforestry carbon research, biodiversity data management, and supporting the study of carbon accounting methodologies for restoration programs in Indonesia through collaborations with conservation agencies and international organizations.
Dr. Ati Dwi Nurhayati, S.Hut, M.Si, Forest Fire Prevention Expert
In the implementation of the GREEN for Riau Initiative, she plays a role in supporting the development of integrated forest and land fire management strategies, including peat fire risk mapping, the development of a hotspot- and rainfall-based early warning system, and the integration of fire and emission data into the MRV system and safeguards reporting. As an Associate Professor at IPB University with over 15 years of experience in forest and peat fire research and control, she has a strong track record in emissions mitigation, fire monitoring system development, and multi-stakeholder capacity building to support the 2030 FOLU Net Sink target and REDD+ implementation.
Riko Wahyudi, Benefit Sharing Plan Expert
In the implementation of the GREEN for Riau Initiative, he plays a role in supporting and assisting in the design of a fair, transparent, and operational benefit-sharing mechanism to support the implementation of Jurisdictional REDD+ in Riau Province. He previously served as a REDD+ Benefit Sharing Expert for the ISFL–World Bank BioCarbon Fund program and various initiatives to strengthen carbon governance and financing at the subnational level.
Communication
Iwan Setiawan, PM., IT & System Development Expert
In the implementation of the GREEN for Riau Initiative, he played a role in supporting the development and operationalization of digital systems for JREDD+ governance, including the design of an IT-based complaint mechanism and the development and integration of a Web GIS dashboard for monitoring and reporting emission reductions. Previously, he had experience as a Geoinformatics Specialist and System Analyst in the development of various national information systems (SIPSN, SIINSAN, SIH3, Web GIS), cross-ministerial database integration, and the development of cloud-based spatial platforms and dashboards for government agencies and international organizations.
Sari Indriaty - Green Radio Line, Media Partner
In implementing the GREEN for Riau Initiative, Green Radio Line plays a role in supporting public campaigns through the production and publication of podcasts, articles, and cross-platform digital promotions to raise public awareness of low-carbon development in Riau Province. As an environmentally-based digital media outlet positioned as Eco Lifestyle – Beyond the Limit, Green Radio Line has experience in campaigns, talk shows, webinars, and multi-stakeholder collaborations through radio streaming, YouTube, Instagram, and podcasts on environmental and sustainable development issues.

Kamran Hussain, Regional Technical Advisor (Forest Carbon Markets) - Asia Pacific, UNEP
Kamran Hussain is a UK-based Pakistani national with more than 15 years of professional experience working on forests, climate change mitigation, REDD+, terrestrial carbon accounting, forest carbon markets and related standards of both compliance and voluntary. Currently, he is working with UNEP for the UN-REDD Program as a Technical Advisor on Forest Carbon Markets for the Asia-Pacific region, supporting the delivery of UN-REDD technical assistance in Vietnam, Papua New Guinea, Nepal, Lao PDR and Indonesia. Previously, he also worked in Pakistan and Sudan where he had the opportunity to lead the development of the National Action Plan for National Forest Monitoring System. He is a Certified Professional in Carbon Forestry from the University of Freiburg, Germany and holds an advanced degree in Terrestrial Carbon Accounting from the University of California San Diego, USA.
Charlotte Hicks, UNEP-WCMC
Charlotte Hicks is a Senior Technical Officer at UNEP-WCMC, specializing in nature-based solutions, climate change, and biodiversity. With over a decade at UNEP-WCMC, she has supported REDD+ partner countries on multiple benefits, safeguards, and spatial planning, while building capacity for sustainable development and conservation. Her career spans roles at the World Bank, IUCN, and ICEM, with extensive experience across Asia-Pacific, Africa, and beyond. Charlotte's expertise bridges conservation policy, forest governance, and biodiversity management, with on-the-ground work in countries including Cambodia, China, Lao PDR, Mongolia, Nigeria, and Viet Nam.
Maria Antonova, UNEP-WCMC
Maria Antonova is a Programme Officer at UNEP-World Conservation Monitoring Centre on the Nature-based Solutions team. As part of UNEP-WCMC she supports the UN-REDD programme and other projects focusing on climate mitigation potential of nature restoration, carbon and biodiversity finance, as well as other topics at the intersection of nature and climate. She has an MSc in conservation biology as well as a background in international relations and journalism.
