The Quran describes forests and water as signs of Allah's greatness and sources of life for all creatures. Water is sent down as a blessing that revitalizes the earth, while trees and plants support the balance of the ecosystem. Forest destruction, the water crisis, and climate change are not only environmental issues, but also a mandate of faith.
As Muslims, preserving forests and water resources is a form of worship and a moral responsibility to care for Allah's creation and protect the lives of future generations. This principle aligns with the efforts made through the Green for Riau program, which promotes forest protection, peat ecosystem conservation, water resource management, and sustainable emission reduction in Riau Province.
Ecological commitment is not just a social movement, but part of spiritual values: maintaining the balance of nature, preventing damage, and providing benefits for all creatures. Thus, concern for climate change is a concrete manifestation of a Muslim's responsibility as a guardian of the earth.
