Description

In Islamic teachings, humans, as khalifah fil ardh (vicegerents on earth), are entrusted with maintaining the balance of nature (mīzān) and preventing damage (fasād). Forest and land fires are not merely annual disasters, but serious disruptions to the ecosystem—increasing carbon emissions, destroying peat, disrupting the water cycle, and impacting public health and the economy.

The Islamic principle of preventing damage aligns with the scientific approach to forest and land fire control, which emphasizes early prevention, ecosystem restoration, sustainable land management, and multi-stakeholder collaboration. These values align with the Green for Riau movement, which promotes forest and peatland protection, strengthening forest and land fire prevention, reducing emissions, and sustainable natural resource management in Riau Province.
