Description
In Riau Malay tradition, nature is not merely an inheritance, but a trust that must be protected. The philosophy of “adat bersendi syarak, syarak bersendi Kitabullah” teaches harmony among humans, nature, and the Creator.
As expressed in the Malay proverb: “Without the sea, the stomach is empty; without the forest, the body perishes.”
This message was conveyed by Datuk Seri H. Raja Marjohan Yusuf, Chairperson of the Majelis Kerapatan Adat (MKA) of the Riau Malay Customary Institution (LAMR), who invited all communities to work together in preserving forests and the life within them.
Forests are not merely collections of trees. They are home to many living beings, including elephants, tigers, orangutans, and various other animals and plants. Therefore, protecting forests from fires and logging is an important part of maintaining the balance of nature, while also preserving the identity and dignity of the Malay people.
Through this message, the Riau Malay Customary Institution (LAMR) also expresses its support for GREEN for Riau in protecting nature and safeguarding forests for today’s life and future generations.
Let us work together to protect forests, protect nature, and protect life.
The Malays shall never vanish from the Earth.
With deepest respect. 🌿
