This flyer introduces the Riau REDD+ Regional Strategy (STRADA REDD+) as the provincial government’s principal policy instrument for reducing greenhouse gas emissions in Riau, aligned with Indonesia’s national operational policies. STRADA REDD+ serves as a roadmap to support sustainable management of forests and peatlands while contributing to Indonesia’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) and FOLU Net Sink 2030 targets.
The document highlights the importance of STRADA REDD+ for Riau, including its role in managing more than 2.6 million hectares of green landscape, enabling access to Results-Based Payment (RBP), and aligning provincial development planning with Indonesia’s FOLU Net Sink 2030 agenda. It also outlines the participatory development process, REDD+ architecture, priority action plans, and technical mechanisms needed to support implementation.
Through STRADA REDD+, GREEN for Riau supports stronger governance, emission reduction planning, MRV systems, safeguards, benefit sharing mechanisms, community empowerment, conflict resolution, prevention of land-use change, and site-level forest management. This strategy is expected to guide Riau toward a greener, more prosperous, and sustainable future.
