This flyer explains the role of institutional strengthening in supporting Jurisdictional REDD+ (JREDD+) implementation in Riau Province. Institutional strengthening aims to reinforce government structures involved in REDD+ by improving data transparency, administrative capacity, and decision-making processes, while ensuring that institutions are prepared to carry out increasingly complex responsibilities in a coordinated and accountable manner.
The document highlights key institutional strengthening activities, including mapping JREDD+ implementation processes, aligning stakeholder roles and responsibilities, improving the knowledge and capacity of regional government officials, and strengthening data governance and project documentation systems for the Coordination Team Secretariat. Through these efforts, GREEN for Riau Initiative supports stronger institutional coordination, improved cross-sector collaboration, greater readiness from the provincial level to field implementation, and better alignment between work plans, outputs, and REDD+ targets. Strong institutions are positioned as the foundation for transparent, accountable, and sustainable REDD+ implementation in Riau Province.
